Tampa, FL - February 23, 2018 - The Legend and Heroes Tour traveling moto museum is pleased to announce that they will honor motocross and supercross pioneer Bill West this Saturday night at round eight of the Monster Energy Supercross series in Tampa, Florida.
The Tour stands behind the belief that “We Don’t Leave History Behind” and has kept the founding fathers, and mothers, pure in their thoughts by honoring the men and women that shaped supercross and motocross into what it is today. Each honoree receives a special commemorative plaque during a special podium presentation on the stadium floor before opening ceremonies.
About Bill West:
Bill is a lifelong motorcyclist and a pioneer of motocross and supercross. His influence and efforts as an event and series organizer, race promoter and sports and entertainment business executive have brought supercross to millions of fans at live events and most importantly helped to bring the sport of professional supercross to television.
Since his early days of motocross and flat track racer and promoter, in Central Florida, Bill has continuously worked to build the sport into the recreational and entertainment entity that it has become today.
Bill was instrumental in creating the Winter AM Series, which is widely acknowledged as one of the original professional motocross programs in the US prior to the growth of AMA Supercross.He established Gatorback Cycle Park, in Gainesville, Fl, which for more than a decade hosted the opening round of the AMA National Motocross Series, and to this day hosts the sport’s longest running continuous major motocross events, the Mini Olympics. He is also recognized as one of the Founding Fathers of the sport of Supercross as he helped bring both professional and amateur Supercrosses to major stadiums throughout the US and through his role in the sport’s original advisory committees.
Bill West, is a humble individual, who through his lifetime of commitment to the Sport and business, has made significant contributions to the motorcycling community. His efforts have had a lasting impact on the development and growth of the sport and his vision and hard work have helped to establish motocross and supercross as essential elements in the fabric of amateur and professional motorsports in the US today.
